Surgical Procedures

Aesthetic and reconstructive surgery procedures are designed to reverse the signs of aging, to remove contour irregularities or deformities and to improve overall appearance for a more natural and youthful look. Having realistic expectations and anticipating improvement, not perfection, will help ensure you have a positive result. The first step in considering aesthetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery is a consultation with Dr. Heinrich to discuss goals, alternatives and the benefits of a surgical procedure.

Blepharoplasty

Eyelids

Bright, youthful eyes are essential to maintaining a vibrant appearance. Eyelid surgery reverses years of aging, giving your eyes a naturally alert, refreshed appearance. Droopy eyelids can make you look older and can also impair vision. Blepharoplasty corrects these problems and also removes puffiness and bags under the eyes that make you look worn and tired. This procedure cannot alter dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, nor can it change sagging eyebrows. Though blepharoplasty is often performed as a single procedure, Dr. Heinrich may also recommend a browlift, facelift, or skin resurfacing to achieve the best results.

Browlift

Browplasty

A browlift will remove or reduce horizontal creases across the forehead, furrows between the eyebrows and sagging eyebrows. Due to the aging process, genetics, stress or muscle activity, facial muscles and tissues can lose elasticity causing wrinkles and furrowed lines. Browlifts are commonly performed on people in their 40s to 60s, however they are also done on younger individuals who have sagging, droopy eyebrows often resulting in a sad facial expression. Not infrequently, a browlift is combined with Blepharoplasty (an eyelid tuck) or facelift to provide a harmonious rejuvenation. Dr. Heinrich will meet with you for a consulation and determine if you are a good candidate for a forehead lift. He will assess your health and medical history, discuss with you the forehead lift process in detail and answer all of your questions.

Cheek Implant Surgery

Individuals who would like to add contour and definition to facial features can benefit from facial implants. Cheek implants can add volume to the cheeks for a more youthful and defined appearance. Cheek implants are most often used to restore sagging mid-facial soft tissues, thus postponing the need for a facelift. However, this procedure can also be performed in conjunction with a facelift to better define the enhancement. There are many options for aesthetic cheek surgery, depending on your particular appearance, and the look you wish to attain. The procedure adds volume to the cheek by effectively augmenting the bone structure of the cheek region, enhancing the foundation of your mid-face.

CHIN IMPLANT

Mentoplasty

Chin augmentation using surgical implants can alter the underlying structure of the face, providing better balance to the facial features. This can take the form of chin height reduction or chin rounding by osteotomy, or chin augmentation using implants. Rhinoplasty (surgery of the nose) specialists often suggest that changes in chin size or shape may enhance a profile as much as rhinoplasty. It is common to recommend chin surgery in addition to nose surgery to achieve facial balance and harmony. Fortunately, this is a relatively straightforward procedure that can make a major difference.

Earlobe Repair

Split earlobes can be caused by heavy earrings worn over a long period of time, multiple piercings too close together, or trauma. The earlobes can be repaired by removing a small amount of skin surrounding the split and then restitching the lobe. The lobe can be re-pierced in 6-8 weeks.

EAR PINNING

OTOPLASTY

Ear pinning surgery, also known as Otoplasty, can improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. Otoplasty can correct a defect in the ear structure that is present at birth that becomes apparent with development or it can treat misshapen ears caused by injury. Ear surgery creates a natural shape, while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Correction of even minor deformities can have profound benefits to appearance and self esteem. If protruding or disfigured ears bother you or your child, you may consider this procedure. Specifically ear surgery can treat: Overly large ears — a rare condition called macrotia, protruding ears occurring on one or both sides in varying degrees — not associated with hearing loss, and adult dissatisfaction with previous ear surgery.

Facelift Surgery

Rhytidectomy

Aging of the face is inevitable, and the process involves many factors. The two primary factors are the pull of gravity and the loss of fullness (fatty tissue) in the face. Heredity, personal habits, and sun exposure contribute to the aging of the face. The facelift is the quintessential procedure in facial plastic surgery. It is the ultimate in surgical rejuvenation for a more youthful face. As the aging population grows, it is obvious why face lift surgery has become the third most desired facial plastic surgical procedure.

Nasal Surgery

The goal of a functional nasal surgery is to improve breathing through the nose.  It could involve straightening a deviated septum, repairing a nasal valve collapse, and reducing the turbinates.  Dr. Heinrich will determine which approach will help you achieve the best possible outcome.

Necklift

Submental Lipectomy

The first signs of an aging neck usually become evident in our forties, and may appear as sagging or loosening of the skin below the chin or jaw. Some will notice cords or bands (the “weakening” of the platysma muscle) and possibly the development of a “turkey neck” or “turkey wattle.” With time, neck fullness and sagging tissues can progress to the point where the youthful definition of the jawline is blurred or lost altogether. And it’s not just advancing age that can affect the look of your neck. Even at a young age, excessive hereditary fat deposits located underneath the chin may enlarge and lead to the dreaded double or even triple chin.

Rhinoplasty

Every year, half a million people seek consultation for enhancement of the appearance of their nose. Some are unhappy with the nose with which they were born or the way aging has changed their nose. For others, an injury may have distorted the nose and in many, there is the additional goal of improving breathing. As the nose occupies a central position on the face, the size and shape of the nose has a great impact on an individual’s appearance.

During your initial consultation with Dr. Heinrich he will carefully and meticulously examine both the exterior and interior of your nose, along with the rest of your facial structure. Always keeping balance and proportion in mind, he will work with you to decide on the best path forward.

Scar Revision

Scar revision offers a solution for individuals who wish to minimize the appearance of skin irregularities that remain after wounds or surgical procedures. The appearance of your scar will play a major role in determining the best type of treatment for you. Scar tissue can vary in color, depth and texture. Hypertropic scars, those that consist of thick clusters of scar tissue, as well as keloids and contracture scars, usually require surgical revision.

Sinus Balloonplasty

The goal of a balloonplasty is to remove diseased tissue from the sinuses in an attempt to reduce chronic sinus infections, improve breathing, and improve chronic facial pain and headaches.  The procedure is done in the office setting.

Skin Cancer Treatment

One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Dr. Heinrich effectively and comprehensively removes and treats all skin cancers. Being double board certified in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery and Facial and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery makes Dr. Heinrich uniquely qualified to effectively remove the cancer and also ensure that the patient has the best possible cosmetic outcome. Dr. Heinrich utilizes a technique known as En Bloc Frozen section, it is a technique very similar to MOHS surgery, where the cancerous tissue is removed and then immediately analyzed by a pathologist to ensure that the margins are free of cancer. This technique allows for the cancer to be removed. Depending on the size, location, and type of cancer, Dr. Heinrich also offers non surgical treatments such as CO2 Laser therapy, Photodynamic therapy and topical chemotherapeutic creams.
