Surgical Procedures

Rhytidectomy (facelift surgery)

Who is a good candidate?

• You have a loss of muscle tone and elasticity of the face and neck.
• You have developed wrinkles of the face and neck.
• You have developed fullness along the jaw line.
• You have deep creases between the base of the nose and the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds).

Description of the Procedure

• There are many variations of the facelift. Your surgeon will discuss which is the most appropriate for you.
• The surgery is done on an outpatient basis. Most of the time the patient is under general anesthesia.
• Generally, incisions are made within the hairline above the ear, extending down around the lobe and ending in the hairline.
• The subcutaneous layers and muscles are tightened, the facial skin is redraped and lifted and the excess skin is removed.

Recovery time is approximately two weeks. The results last from five to ten years, depending upon the patient.
