Sculptra® Aesthetic

Facial collagen loss is a key factor in an aging appearance. Collagen acts as a support structure for your skin, provides overall volume and gives shape to your face. Sculptra® Aesthetic, or poly-L-lactic acid, is a unique facial injectable that replaces collagen lost during the aging process. Sculptra® Aesthetic helps your body to regrow your own collagen over an extended period.

What to expect

Sculptra^® Aesthetic is suitable for deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds), the lines framing your mouth (marionette lines), chin wrinkles and other facial wrinkles. You can expect a one time treatment regimen of up to 4 injection sessions that are scheduled about 3 weeks apart for correction of shallow to deep facial wrinkles. You will notice a subtle, steady improvement in lines and wrinkles resulting in a more youthful appearance. After each injection session, tissue volume in the treated area will gradually build up over the following weeks and months as your body produces new collagen. At the time of your return visit for your next session, Dr. Heinrich will assess your response to the previous treatment and additional treatments can be performed if needed to optimize your correction.

After your treatment

Common injection-related reactions may include swelling, redness, pain, ithcing and discoloration at the injection site. These typically resolve within one to 15 days. Initial swelling will be noticeable for at least several hours and perhaps as long as several days. The effect is temporary and does not affect the long-term tissue response. A feeling of fullness or thickness can be felt in the injection area. This is a normal response and simply massaging the treated areas gently 3 to 5 minutes per day for 3 to 5 days after treatment can help minimize this affect.

You will be given specific post care instructions, including when you can resume your normal activities.
