Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
•This
procedure is for the treatment of Actinic Keratoses or AK’s
• AK’s are rough scaly patches on the skin caused by
excessive exposure to the sun that can sometimes progress into dangerous
skin cancers
• The Levulan PDT system is an advanced 2-step treatment for
minimally to moderately thick AK’s. This system is unique
because it is the only on that uses light to destroy AK’s.
• This system has proven effective in clinical testing. Eight
weeks after treatment it had cleared 100% of AK’s in about
two out of three patients.
• Typically, patients will need three treatments for maximum
effectiveness. |
